Today I learned.......

So it was a slow day for me, and with my current cold keeping me under the weather, I signed up for a reddit account.

Whilst finding my feet I learned a few interesting things.

For instance did you know that the name Marijuana was intended to be a racial slur for cannabis, to discourage white people using the drug back in the 1900s?

Thank you STUPID italian tourists! Alternativ bar gets raided due to big mouths

So word from the street is that this week the Alternativ bar (Karlova 145) which is a popular underground place due to Italians openly discussing where they could buy weed in prague on open forums, even going as far as to name the barman who was offering it.

So, as a consequence, Alternativ has been raided several times and is another place off the list for a peaceful smoke right now.

From a country that is famous for the expression 'shutta your mouth' you guys sure know how to wag your tongues.

Comparing the berlin and prague smoking scene

I've been abent this week due to a nice trip up to Berlin to come and see the Venus festival. During my stay here I have been talking to some friends and comparing notes on the Berlin smoking VS the Prague smoking scene, with some surprising answers!

Firstly it seems that Berlin gets a webehigh rating of 4, same as Prague. Which is interesting as Prague is often lauded as the 'Amsterdam of the East' but Berlin rarely gets a mention. So how do they really compare?

Both cities have remarkably similar events; whilst Berlin has the 'Henfparade or Marijuana March, Czech of course has the Cannafest and other liberalization movements going on in parallel.

From a possession point of view; even 15 grams here seems to be tolerated, 5 more than we are allowed to have before getting hauled in. But really who can smoke a 10 bag anyway.....15 is just greedy :)

WARNING- Czech police doing the rounds of the 'famous' bars with drug searches

So....word from the street is the police have been targeting some bars, specifically Chappeau Rouge, Roxy, the Reggae bar and the 5 story club.

As seen to the right just last night someone was busted in Chappeau Rouge when buying cocaine and Marajuana.

The person who sent me this addition to my collection of fines said it was literally seconds after he walked out the toilet that he was pinned to the wall by an undercover policeman and searched. He said the gentleman of African decent who sold him the stuff glided past him.....funny that.

Watch out who you are buying from. I've warned you before!

this is WHY prague bartenders will not sell you weed anymore

I was recently contacted by a reader of the blog who used to be a barman here in Prague. Its a popular tourist myth that you can just pick up from a bartender here which is rehashed by clueless journalists who are not in the know, but in fact, its not like that in reality.

And why? Well read this story from X, an Italian who was bartending here.

Hey Jade, i love your blog and like u show information to the peoples. i had some problem lately and polce was threatening me a lot ..lately so people should know it. before i was wrking for a club, and the manager was selling me to police, coz ..u already know how is working here, and barman watched all time. They...following me continuosly before..not now..but i m not a dealer, only a ganja lover for a periods..coz i was working for clubs..they following me continuosly..like persecution without finding nothing..coz i have not
first time..they come to pick up me in a restourant...second time when i was relaxing/drinking in chapeao rouge i make public relations..so..i m everywere but i know really were every rules..believe me. but they..i means everybody..first police..no kind..and the first time i was in carcer one night. they r two twins..maybe u know them...

the police man ..the same one of the twin..threatening me to send me direcly in Italy back..i was speacking with my lowyer..she sayd..out of mind..but..here ..corruption..u know better than me and he said me..: next time i find u with some any drugs..u ..finished!!! they was no kind with me, still i have sign in my hands from february becouse of the handcuffs..bringed me in Visherad carcer like at 140 km/h..like i m a terrorist they..completely fuckt up..i know....

As you
can see from the protokol on the right, X knows what he is talking about. With bartending being the most popular expat job next to teaching, Your local barman knowing the police are watching him and threats of deportation over his head, means he is NOT going to be overly interested in selling weed to a stranger.

The protokol (criminal charge) that was given to 'F' after he was found with 18g of weed on him. As a barman, he is a prime target of police attention in Prague.

Smokers meeting bukowski's bar, BoRivojova 86- total waste of space.

So the czechsmokers group moved the usual Sunday night smokers meeting to Bukowskis bar. A group of 7 attended, and conversation was great until the barman came over and told us to stop smoking weed.

As you can imagine, that put a bit of a damper on a group of people who met with the specific purpose of smoking!

Diet cokes, beers and cocktails were quickly downed.

I give this bar a 0/5 for the following reasons-

.33cl beers instead of .50, for 24kc, which is almost DOUBLE the price of most bars. its 14kc for a 'small' in our local. But then its well known that hipsters can't drink like real men.

No smoking
Disinterested Hipster/Grunge bar staff serving arrogant hipsters overprice beer.

AVOID.

preparing for cannafest

One of the highlights of my year is always the Cannafest exhibition. Its that time of year when the streets get swamped with my kind of people, the couchsurfing requests get more interesting, and the town generally becomes well, more like what I'd like to see :)

Well, it is just around the corner, starting on the 7th of November. hopefully all the busts on the grow shops wont create any problems for the organizers.

Time for brownies

So i finally decided to try my hand at baking, since some friends requested edibles. I fucked up the first batch, but the second batch worked well. And it was actually piss easy.

Ingredients:

2 bars of Schoggetten cheap ass chocolate (20ck a bar) which comes already in little squares

165g of butter
225g of white sugar, lidl doesn't have fucking brown sugar.
85g of flour, plain white.
5 grams of hash
2 grams of weed
3 eggs

METHOD

First I took the hash and weed and boiled it in a double boiler, in the butter, for 3 hours., or one lor of the rings movie, whichever you choose. then I strained it out through a cheesecloth and set it in the fridge overnight.

Once I had my weed butter, I melted it again in the double boiler and added 50g of the chocolate. Make sure it is plain dark stuff. I like that type because its already in chunks and Im a lazy ass.

with the butter and chocolate melting, I borrowed my neighbours beater, and put the sugar and eggs together in a bowl and beat them till smoke was coming out the motor. Who gives a fuck, its not mine, and if they bitch I say here have a brownie. Job done.

so then I took a spatula and poured the chocobutter into the eggsugar mix. I moved the spatula in a figure of 8 motion and stirred continuously until it thickened up a bit. Then I tapped the flour in doing the same.

Pan: I greased up a baking pan and then put foil on it. I then greased the foil too. then I poured the mix in, and thew the remnants of the chocolate in for good measure.

I have a ghetto-ass gas oven with no markings on it, so I set it somewhere between furnace and gentle hiss. Once I did this I threw them in for 25 min.

Now, one thing I noticed is that if you take the pan out and shake it a bit and the brownies wobble in the middle they are not ready. Give it a little more time.

I also tried a trick I learned and put the pan directly into cold water when I finished. It actually did make a nice texture difference.

And I put the greased up foil, which came out of the tray really easy, into the freezer for a bit. then when soild, peeled the brownies off.

I then ate them and had a major fucking buzz and went to bed.

Yeah.

well finally the Prague happy shop guys have some weed in stock and I have to say it was worth the wait.

1 gram buds twice the fucking size of a fifty crown piece. Impressive. Guess I can finally start to do that baking I keep promising I will do.
